Suzanne gained an MLitt Dress & Textile Histories from the University of Glasgow in 2020. Her Masters Dissertation topic was 'The Campsie Calico Printing Industry', a subject which she continues to research and deliver talks on.

Since then, she has developed her knowledge of historic textiles to include production techniques, social history and textile collections. Her main research interests are also on domestic textiles, the Paisley thread industry and printed textile production in Victorian Britain. She collects and sells a large range of antique and vintage textiles, using many in her unique decorative creations.
Suzanne uses a variety of textile techniques to create her hand and machine stitched pieces which include jewellery, accessories and decorative embellishments. Antique and vintage textiles, are dyed and manipulated and combined with embroidery to create nature inspired textile art. Slow stitching and Indian Kantha stitching are a great inspiration and influence on Suzanne's creations. Her inspirations include fairy and folklore, nature and textile history.
Antiques & vintage textiles and collectables are a real passion of Suzanne's and she has been collecting since childhood. Many of her finds are used in the work she creates, her own sketch and scrapbooks. She also sells online on her Magpie Maison Instagram account - @magpiemaison
